Logical Reasoning and Problems is the second block of the IMAT: 5 of the 60 questions (Q5–Q9 in 2026), worth 7.5 of the 90 points. The decree describes it in one sentence: completing a line of reasoning consistently with premises given in symbolic or verbal form, on concrete or abstract cases.
In practice the 2026 questions mixed quick quantitative problems — a percentage chain, a number sequence, a substitution — with classic deduction. None needs advanced maths; all reward working carefully from the premises.

Cómo aparece en IMAT: A pair of premises followed by ‘which statement is correct?’. The trap options are true in the real world but do not follow from the premises.

The right answer follows from the premises. An option can be true in reality and still be wrong.
‘20% of the full-time employees’ is not 20% of everyone. Name the base of every percentage before multiplying.
Sequences on the IMAT are often recursive. Test your rule on at least three given terms.

The block is worth 7.5 points. If a question needs more than two minutes, mark it and come back.
Take a timed diagnostic; rebuild the topics marked ‘Easy’ and note every error type: concept, reading or calculation.
38 of the 60 questions are Biology and Chemistry. Work through their ‘Medium’ and ‘Hard’ topics in the order of the frequency tables.
Cover the 13-question Physics & Mathematics block and the 5 logic questions with short mixed sets; aim for about 90 seconds per question.
One full 60-question, 100-minute IMAT mock per week; review every wrong and every guessed answer.
Re-do your error log, revise the traps, and practise the skip-or-answer rule: a wrong answer costs −0.4, a blank costs nothing.
